On November 12th, 1951, after AP Tureaud presented his petition on the necessity of integration, the president of the Colored Educational Alliance argued for the conversion of a white school to a Negro, stating that it was underutilized and situated in an area with a large Negro community.

The president also stated that his petition was not intended to be at odds with Mr. Tureaud’s, he was simply requesting a short-term but immediate solution to the problem of overcrowding.
