At the April 13th, 1953 School Board meeting, the Board announced that they would be converting a white school to a Negro school. This was appealed by a member of the audience. The Board president stated that the Orleans Parish School Board "had an obligation to all children in New Orleans and also to its taxpayers," in some ways echoing the arguments of A.P. Tureaud and the NAACP.
